But which baking tasks make sense for which age? Many parents ask themselves this question when they are standing in the kitchen with their children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Backen_mit_Kindern_fordert_ihre_Entwicklung\"><\/span>Baking with Children Promotes Their Development<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before we think about which baking tasks our children can take on, we should remind ourselves once again <a href=\"https:\/\/backenmitminis.de\/en\/2020\/03\/06\/backen-mit-kindern-foerdert-kinder\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\">why we bake with our children<\/a>: at first glance, the result\u2014a pretty, delicious cake\u2014seems to be the focus! But if we look more closely at the topic, we quickly realize that the \u201cpretty, delicious cake\u201d is merely a welcome side effect. There is no room for perfection when baking with children\u2014spilling is allowed and mistakes can be made! First, some good news: there is no age restriction for baking with children! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, my children have been baking with me since birth. As you can probably imagine, at that time they weren\u2019t cracking eggs into the batter, but were usually sleeping in a baby carrier attached to me \ud83d\ude09 At some point, a lively little girl was sitting in a baby bouncer next to me, watching my every movement closely while happily chewing on a wooden spoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since my minis have been able to walk and could no longer be stopped from helping me bake, <a class=\"rank-math-link rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/wanderlustbaby.de\/ikea-learning-tower\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my parents built a learning tower for them. A kitchen aid that I wholeheartedly recommend to every family. (There are countless instructions for learning towers; I\u2019ve linked one for you here.)<\/a> It\u2019s not only indispensable for baking with children, but for everyday family life with a child in general. It gives the child the opportunity to \u201cbe part of it,\u201d and at the same time gives parents the security that the child can participate \u201csafely\u201d without needing to be held or supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this little excursion into our family life, I simply want to make it clear that baking with children is possible from a very young age. How you define baking with children, when you feel ready for it, and which baking tasks you pass on to them is entirely up to you. Every child develops very individually, especially during the first three years. I\u2019ve put together a <strong>list of baking tasks<\/strong> that can be handled well by <strong>toddlers<\/strong> (from around 2 years of age)\u2014some with more, some with less support from you: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>choosing a cake<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>greasing the baking mold with a brush<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fetching ingredients from the cupboard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cmeasuring\u201d ingredients in a cup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mashing bananas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cutting bananas with a blunt knife<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>putting pre-measured ingredients into the bowl<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>stirring batter with a spoon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mixing batter with a mixer (with your stabilizing hand)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>kneading dough<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sprinkling streusel on the cake<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>holding the baking mold while you pour in the batter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>spreading batter on the tray with a dough scraper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>distributing fruit on a sheet cake<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>placing paper muffin liners in the muffin tin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>spreading cake with chocolate coating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>decorating cake with chocolate pearls\/chocolate lentils<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>licking out the mixing bowl<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cutting out cookies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dusting cake with powdered sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2026and many more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Welche_Aufgaben_beim_Backen_eigenen_sind_fur_Kinder_im_Kindergarten-Alter\"><\/span>Which Baking Tasks Are Suitable for Kindergarten-Aged Children?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The older or more experienced you and your child become when baking together, the more independently your child can take on the baking tasks mentioned above. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, there are also tasks for which a toddler lacks the necessary fine motor skills, and which you should approach slowly. At some point, however, your child will grow out of this stage and may even manage more than you think! If some tasks seem intimidating to you, remember that you are right there with your child and can support them at any time\u2014and as mentioned at the beginning: it doesn\u2019t have to be perfect.
