Are you already planning the next spooky Halloween party? Today we'll show you our favorite, colorful Halloween cake ideas for spooky-beautiful baking with children.
One month until Halloween! Boooo! Yeah! My little ones and I are already looking forward to the scary event! Like in previous years, we'll be going out and about and fortifying ourselves with some spooky-yet-delicious cakes beforehand. It's going to be great!
You probably know how it is, as soon as there are children in the house, more and more small family traditions emerge! A small tradition in the "Baking with Minis" house has become to celebrate October with the minis, right up to the finale: Halloween - October 31st! Until then, pumpkins are selected, hollowed out and carved, pumpkin pie is baked, spooky craft ideas for window decorations are thought up and implemented, a costume for "Trick or Treat" is put together and the door is decorated accordingly. But the most important thing is of course the right cake just before the "ghost hunt" and the spookily decorated houses are visited! We think it's great and look forward to the mysterious, creative October every year! But now back to the essentials: the spooky treat!
We have already baked everything that a spooky heart desires for October 31st: spooky American cookies, scary cookies, but also colorful candy cakes, brownie and cookie creations. Small cakes, large cakes, finger food,... you name it, we have baked it! The main thing is that it is delicious and a little bit spooky! The more cake decorations, the more excited my children are! Throughout October, we search the various supermarkets during our weekly shop for delicacies that can decorate our cake creation for the spooky afternoon! It is great fun and every year we find something new and special that did not cross our path last year.
My kids and I have put together our favorite spooky treats for Halloween for you and your minis. If you also fancy a spooky-beautiful baking session, you're sure to find delicious inspiration among our spooky favorites! Have fun getting inspired and baking!
Spooky Chocolate Candy Cake
Our Spooky Chocolate Candy Cake is due to the baked zucchini graters super juicy! If you find the thought of zucchini in chocolate cake "scary", don't worry! You won't taste the zucchini, it just makes this chocolate cake super moist! And I promise you, it's worth it!
The candy cake only becomes really scary thanks to its great decoration. With delicious, colorful spider webs made of colored cake icing and chocolate spiders, the sheet cake is already an absolute highlight. But this is topped off by the many scary sweets! You can find Halloween sweets in every well-stocked supermarket! And I don't have to tell you that the decoration is a hit with the little ones, do I? 😉

DIY Halloween Treats
Trick or treat? With our DIY print template you can make creative Halloween treats with your kids from Ritter Sport Minis and hand them out on Halloween or bring them to the Halloween party as a small guest gift. Here you can find our DIY print template.
Trick or Treat?
Fluffy bat cakesicles
Our fluttery bat cakesicles sind eine wahre Augenweide! Mit ihren schokoladigen Öhrchen und den leckeren Schokoladenflügeln sind sie ein ganz besonders passender Leckerbissen zur Halloweensparty.
I would recommend baking these cute little fluttering men with children who have some baking experience, or with children aged 8 and over, as they require more dexterity. But younger little ones definitely enjoy them just as much as older ones... I speak from experience! 😉

Crazy Monster Waffle Cups
My minis love them! Their friends love them! And everyone had so much fun creating them! Their Crazy Monster Waffle Cups! No wonder – they look so funny with their delicious chocolate eyes and mouths and crazy hair!
Our recipe shows you how you and your little ones can bake a mini cake in a waffle cup. If you want it to be quicker, you can also crumble a store-bought sponge cake and mix it with 1-2 teaspoons of cream cheese and then fill it into the waffle cups. Super quick parenting hack! But the most fun factor is of course in the decoration! You can let your imagination run wild here. It's especially fun if you go to the supermarket before baking to look for Halloween-tastic treats that you can turn into monster waffle cups together!

DIY muffin topper set
Do you already know our DIY gift tag set? With the cute gift tags for your DIY gifts from the kitchen, you can beautifully decorate your muffins. The muffin toppers are available as a colored print or for you to color in yourself!
Der Halloween-Kracher!
Spooky Brookies
The Spooky Brookies you can decorate with your minis however you like – but I recommend using chocolate decorations for this brownie cookie mix, as they go so well with the chocolatey brownies!

Crispy Spider Cake Pops
The little crunchy spider cakepops are a fantastic Halloween party snack. They look just funny and are perfect as a party snack because they can be eaten cleanly and quickly as a finger food snack! ("Clean and quick" is always a good argument for parents, right?).
In our case, the crispy spider cake pops are cute and not so "hairy". However, if you roll them in chocolate shavings or chocolate sprinkles after glazing them, you'll have very "hairy" ones! And if you then give them scary eyes, they're not so "cute" anymore!
Who doesn’t like to quickly snack on a little chocolate spider with crunchy icing?

Chocolate Pumpkin Cake
Our chocolate pumpkin pie is an absolute Halloween highlight! A bat on the cake table will naturally attract all hungry glances! And rightly so!
If you would like to “transform” your favorite sponge cake into a bat, you can find the template for the cake topper (wings & ears) for download in the blog post or under downloads. In no time at all, you and your minis can transform the delicious pumpkin bundt cake into a delicious bat for your cake table!

Monster Halloween Cookies
Our Monster Halloween Cookies are great for baking with small children or for letting your older children try it out on their own. In fact, it was one of the first recipes I used with my little ones for our first baking event on October 31st... and it was a huge hit! The recipe is quick and easy to bake and decorate... and I don't need to mention that it's super tasty, do I? 😉 This just proves once again that you can get a cool result with little effort! Monster-like good! Monster-like tasty!

Last Minute-Halloweenparty
After sharing our favorite Halloween cakes and treats with you, you and your little ones might now be keen to plan and celebrate a spooky Halloween party. Then I have just the thing for you: For your party you will find scary-beautiful, simple ideas for spooky party decorations and sweet and sour party snacks in our blog post “Last Minute Halloween Party”.

As you could already read at the beginning of the blog post, we are big party fans. It doesn't always have to be a big party, but a little party is always possible! True to the motto "A little party never killed nobody", we try to celebrate the holidays as they come. And of course, mostly with child-friendly party decorations. In most cases, the minis and I make these ourselves and complement them with a few special, purchased highlights! Our cute cake toppers for Halloween, which you can color in together with your minis, are available to you free of charge in our shop! The cake toppers for coloring are a pretty, creative fun for October to decorate and prepare your party. In our shop you will find other free downloads for Halloweentastic cake toppers: little mini monsters for the little ones and wrinkled bats for the more dexterous little ones.
To make creative use of October, we prepared small chocolates for the trick or treat "ghost hunt" and decorated them nicely! They were an absolute highlight for my little ones because they could have a colorful time, and for the little ones who rang our doorbell because they could "hunt" a special chocolate. To make them, you need the printout from our shop, which you can then freely color with your children - it's child's play and guaranteed to succeed! Depending on how old your children are, you may need to attach the ribbons to the chocolate bars. These little chocolate bars are also perfect for a chocolatey invitation to your Halloween party!
