Christmas crunchy Rocky Roads for the Christmas season. The American chocolate bars are super quick and easy to make! A crisp Christmas present from the kitchen!
We love it really crunchy this holiday season! From crunchy chocolate almonds to a crunchy Christmas muesli, we are currently crunching our way through December (Have you already seen our “10 super-quick Christmas gifts from the kitchen”?). And while we were crunching around, we came across a super delicious crunchy highlight: Rocky Roads!
My kids & I tried the American treat this week. And since we unanimously decided that these crunchy chocolate nut bites are really delicious and that you can't possibly spend the Christmas season without these delicacies, we're sharing our easy-peasy recipe with you for the upcoming 3rd Advent!

Recipe for Rocky Roads
This recipe is not only super delicious, but also super easy! In my opinion, there are two tasks that you should help your kids with:
- Melting the butter in the saucepan – Caution: risk of burns!
- Cutting the Rocky Road Bars into small pieces - Caution: The mass is very hard, so there is a risk of the knife slipping! So be careful!
In my opinion, all other steps are easy peasy. 😉

Ingredients
For approx. 20 bars
- 400 g dark chocolate
- 200 g butter
- 150 g nuts (almonds, pecans,…)
- 200 g chocolate-coated pepper nuts*
- 50 g Mini-Marshmallows*
- 50 g speculoos
- 60 g peanut brittle*
- Christmas sugar sprinkles*
- golden crunchy balls*
Baking accessories: Kitchen scales, mixing bowl, saucepan, dough scraper, rectangular baking dish, cutting board, bread knife, baking paper

Preparation
- Before you start with the Rocky Roads, grease the baking dish with a little butter and line it with a strip of baking paper - this will help the chocolate-nut mixture to come out of the tin more easily after it has cooled.
- Then melt the butter in a small saucepan and add the chocolate to the melted butter and let it melt as well.
- Add the liquid chocolate-butter mixture to the dry ingredients in the mixing bowl and mix all the ingredients together until everything is generously coated with chocolate.
- Now put the mixture into the baking dish, press it down with the spatula and decorate it as you wish with sugar sprinkles, chocolate pearls or other Christmas treats.
- Finally, put the filled casserole dish in the fridge to cool for about 1-2 hours.
- After the mixture has cooled, turn the large chocolate-nut bar out of the mold onto a large board and cut it into approx. 4 x 4 cm pieces with the bread knife.
