The brightly colored party snack is ideal for your children's birthday party! These colorful cake pops are a nice snack for any children's party and are an eye-catcher on your cake table!
My kids love things “colorful” – whether it’s clothes, pictures, books… the more colorful they are, the more excited they are. It was exactly the same when they were allowed to choose the cake icing for our party cake pops. Obviously the motto applies: the more colorful, the more “party”! 🙂 If your minis feel the same, today we have a very simple and brightly colored party snack for your minis and you!
Recipe for the brightly colored party snack
Colorful snacks for a child's birthday party? It's logical that my minis are there straight away! The batter is very easy and quick to make. My minis had great fun filling the cake pop makers with a teaspoon and the batter - a wonderful exercise for fine motor skills! The silicone baking mold forgives the possibility of something going wrong because we were able to simply snap off the “overflowing” dough after baking and eat it.
If you haven't yet baked with a silicone baking mold like the Cakepop Baker, I recommend you first read my 5 tips for baking with silicone baking molds !

Ingredients for 40 cake pops
Sponge dough
- 2 eggs
- 125 g margarine
- 70 g sugar
- 1 packet of bourbon vanilla sugar (15 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 150 g spelled flour
- 50 ml milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
Decoration
- 12-15 shish kebab skewers*
- 50 g yellow cake icing*
- 50 g pink cake icing*
- 50 g purple cake icing*
- 50 g green cake icing*
- 50g light blue cake icing*
- colorful decorative sprinkles (I used this sprinkle mix*)
Baking accessories
Kitchen scales, measuring cups, mixing bowl, hand mixer, dough scraper, cake pop baker* (here you can find detailed information about Baking with the cake pop baker and about Baking with silicone baking molds), 2 teaspoons or piping bag with nozzle for filling the cake pop maker, cooling rack, bowl and cooking pot for the water bath for melting the cake icing, baking paper
Little tip -You can also try to line up the cakepops onto pretty lollipop sticks* . The challenge here, however, is that these don't have a pointed end like shish kebab skewers. It can therefore happen that the cake pop's icing breaks when it is pierced with the blunt end of the lollipop stick. If you want your minis to do the skewering, I recommend the not-so-colorful shish kebab skewers.
Preparation
For the pretty and brightly colored snack, we first bake the small cake balls in the cake pop baker and then decorate the small cake pops to become THE snacks for the children's birthday party 😉
We bake cake pops
- Stir the margarine in the mixing bowl until foamy
- Add eggs and mix into a homogeneous mass
- Add sugar, vanilla sugar & vanilla extract and mix well
- Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl and stir into the dough
- Finally add the milk so that the dough becomes nice and smooth
- Now wash the cake pop maker briefly in cold water and preheat the oven to 175°C top/bottom heat
- Your minis now fill the bottom of the cake pop baker with the batter. Place 1-2 teaspoons each in the designated wells. It is helpful if your Mini works with two teaspoons (one is used to take the dough out of the bowl and the other is used to push the dough from the first spoon into the baking pan.

- Once the base is filled, place the lid of the cake pop baker on the base, press it firmly and it goes into the oven.
- The cake pops bake for about 10-15 minutes (do the toothpick test to test if the cake pops are completly baked)
- When the cake pops are cooked, place the still closed cake pop baker on the cooling rack to cool (the cake pops cool down in the cake pop baker!)
Aus den Cakepops werden unsere knalligen Partysnacks
- Carefully press the cooled cake pops out of the cake pop maker, which has also cooled down
- Depending on the instructions, you can melt the cake icing in a water bath or in the microwave: to do this, first put the cake icing of one color in a small bowl and let it melt. Then you and your minis each dip 8 cake pops into the icing one after the other. If there is no longer enough icing for dipping, roll the cake pop in the icing. Then place it on the baking paper and, while the glaze has not yet dried, sprinkle it with your favorite sprinkles.

- Now repeat the same procedure with the other colors.
- When the icing of all the cake pops has dried, take the shish kebab skewers and carefully skewer 3-4 cake pops onto each shish kebab skewer.

And your brightly colored skewers are ready for your party!
I wish you a lot of fun baking and even more fun snacking 😉
Yours, Lia
