These quick horse cookies are not only quick to make, you and your little one can also use them to beautifully decorate any baked goods for the horse party.
My little girl is starting school this year, and instead of a traditional school party, she wants a horse-themed one! Why not? So we had a horse-themed party. To celebrate, all of the baked goods were decorated with horses—with toy horses and these HORSE COOKIES!
Today I'll show you how you can make these horse cookies quickly and easily:
Recipe for quick horse biscuits
As we all know, decorating is the most fun (and the snacking, of course 😉 )... and that's exactly what you can do with your little ones here. Transforming the cookies into horses trains their fine motor skills. Since drawing straight lines with icing isn't that easy, you might want to give your child some support. It's best to let them try it out and help if necessary.

Ingredients for 12 horse biscuits
- 1 pack of Balena shortcrust biscuits* (You can use any “long” biscuits for the horse biscuits)
- 24 sugar eyes*
- 24 decorative chocolate hearts*
- white sugar writing*
- colorful sugar writing* (we used orange, green and blue)
- Food glue* (you can also use liquid chocolate)
Baking accessories
possibly baking paper or baking mat as a base
Preparation
- Place the cookies on the baking paper with some space between them
- Now use the food glue or liquid chocolate to glue two decorative chocolate hearts with the point upwards to act as “ears” on the top of the cookie.
- Approximately 0.5 cm below the “ears” you stick two sugar eyes so that your horse cookie can see 😉
- Now let the cookies rest for a while so the glue can dry.
- Now use the colored sugar pens to draw a horizontal line about 1 cm above the bottom of the cookie – the bridle.
- Finally, use the white sugar pen to draw two dots as nostrils below the colored sugar line (bridle) and tadaa, the horse cookies are ready!

For our horse-themed party, we stuck some of the cookies onto moist cakesicles with chocolate, creating some pretty horse-shaped cakesicles. Whether with or without the cakesicles, the horse cookies were a huge hit with the kids!
My kids and I wish you and your kids lots of fun decorating and snacking!
Yours, Lia
A little tip for your grandiose horse party
Our quick horse cookies decorate, among other things, the juicy cakesicles for our horse party for the first day of school. Our super-moist unicorn cake would be wonderful at a horse party (ideally without the “glitter horn” 😉 ). We made many of our beautiful table decorations (cake toppers, drinking cups, straws, etc.) from the horse craft set from printfetti.de.
