ROARRR – a dinosaur children’s birthday party for the 6th birthday

*This posting contains advertising.

Do you need inspiration for your dinosaur birthday party? Today I'm sharing our ideas for our dinosaur party—from invitations to gift bags.

My little ones and I love theme parties, and of course, for their 6th birthday, we chose a theme of our own. This year, we debated between a dinosaur and a horse party for a long time, until we finally decided on the dinosaur birthday party!

Invitation to a dinosaur children's birthday party

For the invitation to our children's birthday party, the Template by Abby from Babbling Abby was our oriantation and we crafted dinosaur heads with opening mouths.

Another great idea are these chocolate dinosaur invitations: beautifully designed dinosaur wrappers for Ritter Sport Minis, both with and without pre-written invitation text.

Party decoration for the dinosaur children's birthday

For the party decoration this year I used print template for the dinosaur children's birthday party from printfetti.de . The printable template contains everything you need for a children's birthday party: from the invitation template to pretty table decorations and foldable party bags. A complete package for anyone who loves to party and craft! I used the dinosaur printable template to decorate the drinking straws and party bags.

The dinosaur garland from the craft kit also decorated our living room in a dinosaur-themed way – really awesome! In addition to the DIY printable, I also picked out some other fantastic party supplies from the online shop printfetti.de: the ingenious ROAR garland, which is an absolute eye-catcher, along with matching napkins, balloons in various shades of green that last a lifetime, and the colorful dinosaur masks. And, of course, tons of confetti!

To create a little jungle feeling, I made a few jungle lianas and dangled them from the ceiling over the table.

For the party snacks on the table, small green paper cups with heads, tails and legs were transformed into funny dinosaurs.

Delicious party food for the dinosaur party

What's a dinosaur party without real dinosaur food? 😉 I chose the color green for all the decorations, including the table decorations and the party buffet. So far, I've always had great success offering a variety of small snacks at children's birthday parties. Since little ones usually want to try everything, and large portions of cake often result in a lot of leftovers, this is a perfect solution for a children's party.

We prepared green chocolatey dinosaur cookies and cute dinosaur waffle cups as a highlight on the cake table. And many small snacks such as cookie rolls (pretty dipped in green cake melts* and decorated with sprinkles), mini chocolate kisses and dinosaur-shaped wine gums*. But of course there was also fruit and small pretzel sticks.

But of course there was also a dinosaur cake for the mini's birthday that fit the theme: a great dinosaur landscape.

To drink, there was "sparkling mud water" – for real dinosaurs! I mixed apple juice into an apple juice spritzer, which was coloured with green food coloring* and mixed with a little glitter* . And there's always crystal-clear "jungle grotto water" on offer!

Funny dinosaur party games

Besides a delicious dino snack, there's also plenty of play at a dinosaur birthday party. My little one wanted a treasure hunt for her dino birthday, and that's exactly what she got:

In keeping with the theme, we have created a “Dino Egg Hunt” : the dinosaur nest containing the dinosaur eggs (party favor bags) was stolen, and the little dinosaurs (the birthday child and guests) had to set out to find it, completing a few small tasks and games along the way. At the end of the treasure hunt, the dinosaur nest was hidden in the playground, where the mini dinosaurs could search for and plunder it. To make the little dinosaurs recognizable, we first decorated little cardboard dinosaur feet and put on dinosaur masks. And then we were ready to go!

In their search for the dinosaur eggs, the little dinosaurs received another clue for their search after each successfully solved “task”:

Obstacle course with dinosaur feet – For this, I drew a small parkour on the floor with chalk, which the minis were allowed to run on with their crafted dinosaur feet.

Dinosaur feeding – For the dinosaur feeding, I tied wine gum cherries to a long string and, together with my party assistant 😉, held them above the little ones' heads. They had to hop a bit to get their treat. They weren't allowed to use their hands and could only "grab" the cherry with their mouths.

Dinosaur Egg Run – For this I filled water balloons and with these the children played the children’s party classic egg and spoon race.

Three-legged dinosaur – for this game, two children are tied together at one leg each (the minis are placed next to each other and the inner legs are tied together – please not too tightly) and they have to cover a certain distance.

Stop dance with dinosaur feet – The minis dance to the music, and every time the music stops, the minis must stand still. Anyone who moves when the music stops is eliminated, until only one remains.

There was our dinosaur birthday party for the little dinos 😉

I'd love to see some of these ideas you can use for your little ones' birthday parties. If you have any other great games or decoration ideas for a dinosaur party, or if you have any questions, please share them with us in the comments!

My kids and I wish you and your kids lots of fun celebrating your child’s birthday!

Yours, Lia
