Recipe for our vanilla snowman cookies
To be sure, you can find my tips for baking cookies with children here.
Mini tip: If the number of cookies is too high for you, perpare half of the dough first!

Ingredients
Ingredients for approx. 50-55 snowman cookies
Shortcrust pastry
- 600 g flour
- 200 g sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 250 g soft butter
- 2 packets of vanilla sugar, each 15 g, (or 3 tsp Vanillakipferl spice from Just Spices*)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- some flour for rolling out the cookie dough
Decoration
- 100 g white chocolate
- lots of small, colorful chocolate beans (we used the small Smarties)
- 50-55 chocolate carrots*
- black sugar paint*
Baking accessories
Kitchen scales, mixing bowl, cling film, rolling pin, round cookie cutter* or a glass, spreading knife, baking paper, baking tray, cooling rack, cooking pot & melting bowl

Preparation
- Put all the ingredients for the dough in a mixing bowl and knead with your hands (or a food processor) into a firm dough.
- Then wrap the cookie dough in cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, ideally 60 minutes.
- Now sprinkle the work surface and rolling pin with a bit of flour and roll out about a third of the dough on the work surface to a thickness of about 0.5 cm. Meanwhile, the remaining dough stays in the fridge so that it doesn't get too warm.
- Before cutting out the snowman cookies, preheat the oven to 175°C.
- Now you and your kids cut out as many round circles from the dough as possible.
- Using a spreading knife, place the cut-out circles on a baking tray lined with baking paper and place them in the preheated oven for approx. 8-9 minutes. The cookies are still a little soft at this point, but will harden as they cool.
- Next, slowly melt the white chocolate in a water bath.
- Now your kids brush the cooled snowman cookies with the melted chocolate and decorate each cookie with a chocolate carrot nose and five small chocolate buttons as a mouth. After the chocolate has dried, use the black sugar pen to paint the eyes on the snowman cookies!
