Chocolate Reindeer Cake – Our delicious chocolate cake for the Christmas season

*This posting contains advertising

A moist chocolate cake with Christmas spices is the highlight for the Christmas party with children - great recipe for baking with kdis!

Like the last three years, today my kids and I are teaming up with creative food bloggers to collect special recipes for the Christmas season for you. After we had Christmas trees in every conceivable variety and flavor in the first year (our Christmas tree is made of a delicious orange cake), invited you to our virtual Christmas market in 2021 (we had the recipe for delicious poffertjes), collected sweet Christmas presents from the kitchen last year (our Chocolate bombs on a stick were highly liked). This year we are “rocking” around the Christmas tree with you and there are again many delicious Christmas recipes that you can enjoy under the Christmas tree!

My kids and I are big chocolate lovers, so of course only one delicious chocolate cake – with Christmas spices, of course – can be eaten under the Christmas tree:

Recipe for our delicious chocolate cake

A chocolate cake is always an option for us - especially a moist chocolate cake! If it then “wears reindeer antlers” and is refined with Christmas spices, it is also perfect for Christmas!

The recipe is very easy and you can bake AND decorate it with your children! A moist chocolate cake that will make the whole family happy under the Christmas tree!

Preparation

  • Grease the springform pan with a little butter or something similar or line it with baking paper.
  • Preheat the oven to 175°C top/bottom heat.
  • Mix butter with sugar and vanilla sugar until fluffy.
  • Stir in each egg individually.
  • Add cream cheese and stir.
  • Mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa, gingerbread spice and salt in a bowl and stir into the dough in portions.
  • Add milk and mix well.
  • Stir in the chocolate sprinkles.
  • Pour the dough into the greased springform pan and bake on the middle shelf in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes.
  • Use a toothpick to check whether the moist chocolate cake is baked through.
  • Let the chocolate cake cool in the springform pan for 10 minutes and then remove it from the springform pan and let it cool completely on the cooling rack.
  • For Christmas cake decoration, melt the chocolate icing in a water bath or in the microwave and spread it over the cooled chocolate cake.
  • While the icing is still wet, spread the pretzels as antlers, the eyes and the chocolate beans as a nose on the surface of the chocolate cake as shown in the picture.
  • As soon as the icing has dried, the moist chocolate cake can be served

Little idea: A delicious chocolate cake with a reindeer look is not only a wonderful to snack under the Christmas tree, it is also definitely welcome as a dessert at a Christmas dinner or as a sweet addition to a Christmas brunch!
