We’re making summer just the way we like it! With our summer bucket list, we’re creating an unforgettable season. Let’s go!
I’m sitting here at our dining table, and although it’s already June, it’s raining outside — and suddenly, I feel this strong craving for “summer.” There are so many things I want to do in my head — some with my family, some just for myself. Sounds like the perfect time to make a new list! A list of what I want to experience this summer!
It’s become a little tradition in our house that the Minis make their own summer bucket list just before the school holidays begin. From “eat a delicious ice cream” to “visit Abuela in Spain,” anything can be added to this wish list! The Minis write down their ideas, and then we try to make as many of them happen as we can. The goal isn’t to check off every single item — it's okay if some wishes and ideas stay open!
Last year, I made my first “to-want list” for the 4th quarter of my blog, and it was amazing to see how it helped me keep my goals in sight and accomplish most of them. Back then, the list was mainly focused on my blog and baking topics. This year, my summer bucket list is all about having an unforgettable summer. Sure, there will be some baking adventures, but that’s not the focus! This is more about experiences and activities I want to enjoy this summer — not goals I want to achieve. It’s more about fun than success!
So here we go!

My Summer Bucket List
(As of August 21, 2025: I've already earned a lot of points, and I still have another month left! Yay!)
- ✅Spend a day at the lake (a beautiful day at Langener See with delicious “Freibadfries” – it was great!)
- ✅Go on a long bike ride (we went on a few longer bike rides with the minis – including to Langener See)
- Watch a movie at a drive-in or open-air cinema (that's still on the list for next summer!
- ✅Instead of dinner, a picnic on the Main (Fully loaded with snacks, we had dinner on the Main River – it was lovely!)
- ✅A water fight with the minis (One? ;))
- An overnight stay with the minis in the garden under the open sky (somehow it didn't happen... next year!)
- ✅Create a summer cocktail (the minis' new hobby "Mom, do you also have a 'summer drink'?")
- Organize a cocktail evening with friends (we've had a few barbecues, but the cocktail evening is still to come... maybe for my birthday?)
- ✅Visit an amusement park (We went to Taunuswunderland and it was great!)
- Stand-up paddleboarding (I'm so keen to do this and I don't know why I didn't get around to it this year...?! Definitely on my list for next summer!)
- ✅Book a summer holiday in another country (Spain – not really surprising, but another country!)
- Attend an open-air concert (Nope…)
- ✅Stroll through a street festival (We went to the Old Town Festival and it was very nice again!)
- ✅Barbecue with friends (often and delicious…yummy!)
- Attend the salsa evening at the Alte Oper square (unfortunately not…!)
- ✅Go dancing barefoot at the beach club (I went dancing at the Ocean Club – not barefoot, but with a lot of fun!)
- ✅Try a new flavor of ice cream (Yes, grapefruit pepper, it was delicious!)
- ✅Make your own ice cream with the minis (Yes, yes, yes, of cause!)
- Try a new no-bake cake (No, we didn't do that, but we created new ice cream pops instead!)
- ✅Make your own MEGA ice cream sundae (Yes, for a very special occasion!)
- Watch lots of sunsets
- ✅Make a header from the 3-meter board (always exciting!)
- ✅Discover a new place (The beach of Alcudia in Mallorca – a wonderful place!)
- ✅Eat delicious fries at the outdoor pool (Very delicious, although the minis didn't share very generously with me...)
- ✅Go pick fresh strawberries (But of course, I can't imagine summer without it!)
- ✅Explore a new city (Alcudia on Mallorca – wonderful!)
- Send out a message in a bottle
- ✅Climb beyond myself in the climbing park (Yes, that was great and the little ones are already climbing so high – so brave!)
- Create a summer journal of our experiences (The idea kept coming up, and in the end, we wrote a diary every now and then! But we didn't really embellish it...)

Honestly, now I really can’t wait to get started! The weather might not be very summery at the moment, but it's never too early to start checking off items on the summer bucket list — don’t you agree?
What would you add to my summer bucket list? Maybe I’ve even inspired you to create one of your own. I promise you, it’s so much fun and the perfect way to make your summer beautiful — no matter what the weather’s like!
I am ishing you and your Minis a wonderful summer full of magical moments!
Yours, Lia
