Recipe for a Fruity Heart Galette
The best thing about this Heart Galette recipe is that you can create a delicious homemade dessert with your Minis in no time. That means your children don't have to wait too long while baking, but they still get to enjoy all their favorite tasks: kneading the dough, rolling out the pastry, cutting out a heart, and spooning the filling onto the dough. All of these activities are great for developing your children's fine motor skills..

Ingredients for One Galette
Shortcrust pastry
- 50 g sugar
- 100 g butter
- 160 g spelled flour
- 1 egg
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar (15g)
- 1 pinch of salt
Filling
- 150 g raspberries (thawed frozen raspberries work perfectly, too)
- 50 g blueberries
- 1 packet vanilla sugar (optional, to taste)
Decoration
- Sliced almonds
- 1 tbsp milk
Baking accessories
Baking Equipment, baking mat* or baking paper; Kitchen scale, Mixing bowl, Rolling pin, Blunt knife, Small bowl, Cake lifter*, cooling rack, Heart-shaped cookie cutter*Pastry brush
Preparation
- Place all of the ingredients for the shortcrust pastry into a mixing bowl and knead them together until a smooth dough forms.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (355°F) with top and bottom heat.
- Roll out the dough on a baking mat or lightly floured surface until it is about 5 mm (¼ inch) thick.
- Use a toothpick to lightly draw a heart shape onto the rolled-out dough, then carefully cut it out with a blunt knife. (You can use the leftover pastry to cut out a few cookies.)

- In a small bowl, gently mix together the filling ingredients. Spoon the filling onto the pastry heart, leaving a border of about 1 cm (½ inch) around the edge.
- Fold this border inward over the filling and gently press it down.

- Your Mini can use the leftover pastry to cut out a small heart and place it on top of the filling as decoration.
- Brush the folded pastry edge with milk and sprinkle the sliced almonds over it.

- Bake the galette for about 20 minutes at 180°C (355°F).
- Once baked, leave it on the baking tray for about 10 minutes. As the shortcrust pastry cools, it becomes firmer and easier to handle.
- Carefully transfer the galette to a cooling rack using a cake lifter and allow it to cool completely.

And just like that, your Heart Galette is ready to enjoy! This sweet-and-tangy treat is perfect for sharing with your loved ones. I especially love giving it as a homemade gift for Grandma or another very special person.
My Minis and I wish you and your little ones lots of fun baking!
Yours, Lia
