Colorful mini oven Berliners – a must for Carnival!

*This posting contains advertising

Carnival without Berliners? Without us! This year we are baking the little delicacies in the oven! Mini oven Berliners – the highlight for our carnival party!

I think carnival is great! Dress up, celebrate, sing, have fun... what could be better! I personally have various 5th seasons spent in Kölle and ate one or two Berliners there. 🙂

This year I won't be attending Carnival for the 5th time in a row in Kölle, but on the contrary, experience it in a region where by the word Carnival the nose is wrinkled contemptuously! But I'll tell you what: that doesn't bother me at all! As long as I can rely on the local kindergarten, I put my kids in the costumes they want, put on the carnival music and happily eat these delicious mini oven Berliners! (Last year I ate this special confetti cake! – The main thing is, it has to be “‘something with confetti’”)

Because I'm telling you: „Karneval is en jeföhl!!“ (Carneval is a feeling!)

With that in mind, enjoy the mini oven Berliners! Here, my recipe for your very special carnival!

Recipe for mini oven Berliners

This delicious recipe is a highlight for every children's party - be it the current carnival party or the next children's birthday party. These little oven Berliners are always well received!

Baking the little Berliners does bring small challenges for the mini bakers, but none that couldn't be overcome without your help.

  • The first challenge is that the minis have to be patient with a yeast dough, because a good yeast dough cannot be baked in one go and takes time.
  • The second challenge is more technical in nature and concerns injecting the jam into the oven Berliners. But as I said, you can definitely handle these challenges wonderfully as a team!

Preparation

  • Mix half a cube of fresh yeast, a tablespoon of sugar and four tablespoons of lukewarm milk in a bowl and let it rise for about 5 minutes (until the yeast bubbles and multiplies).
  • Mix the remaining milk and remaining sugar, flour and salt, add the yeast mixture and knead with your hands (or the dough hook) to form a firm dough.
  • Add margarine and knead for another 5 minutes
  • With well-floured hands, roll around 16 small balls - the mini oven Berliners -, place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cover them with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  • Bake the mini oven Berliners for 25-30 minutes at 180°C top/bottom heat and then let them cool

  • Using a piping bag with a filling nozzle or a small syringe, fill the mini oven Berliners with your favorite jam (also mustard, vanilla sauce and the like if you like 😉)
  • For the confetti-colored finale, melt the pink icing according to the package instructions and brush it on the oven Berliners and sprinkle generously with colorful confetti sprinkles.

For the classics among you: Spread the oven Berliners with 2 tablespoons of liquid margarine/butter and then roll them in sugar.

And the mini oven Berliners are ready for the carnival party!
