The Next Mermaid Party Is Coming Up – and These Sparkling 3D Mermaid Cookies Are a Must! Today, we’ll show you how your kids can easily shape them too!
My little one’s birthday is coming up and she wishes for an Ariel-themed birthday! It feels a bit like déjà vu, since my older daughter also wanted a mermaid party two years ago – and of course, she got a delicious, lemony Happy Mermaid Cake.
. So this year, it's time for Mermaid Party 2.0 for my younger daughter – and as a party snack for the kids, we’re making these pretty, sparkling 3D mermaid cookies.

A lovingly designed banderole (if necessary with a preconceived invitation text) for parents with little time!
The Simple Recipe for 3D Mermaid Cookies
These mermaid cookies are perfect to bake with younger children (from 2.5 years old), since they can already help press the shortcrust pastry into the silicone mold with your assistance. My 5-year-old daughter was able to remove the cookies from the mold all by herself. For children, working with the mold is similar to playing with playdough and equally promotes fine motor skills.

3D mermaid fondant mold* (or an Ocean-Set*, mixing bowl, kitchen scale, hand mixer with dough hooks (or hands), optional disposable glove for kneading in the food coloring, baking tray, parchment paper or baking mat, cooling rack
Preparation
- First, you and your kids knead all the ingredients for the shortcrust pastry (except the food coloring) into a smooth dough in a mixing bowl.
- Then divide the dough into 3 equal parts and color each with your chosen food colors.

- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- While the dough chills, line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Lightly flour the silicone mold to prevent the dough from sticking (repeat this step regularly).

- Now fill the silicone mold as you like with the different dough colors, press the dough firmly into the mold, and gently remove it (be especially careful at the narrow point of the mermaid tail).
- Repeat until the baking tray is filled with little mermaid tails.

- Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) top/bottom heat when the tray is about half full.
- Bake the mermaid cookies for 10–12 minutes at 160°C (320°F) – since every oven bakes a little differently, keep an eye on them so they don’t get too dark!
- Once the 3D cookies are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the tray for 10 minutes. This helps the dough firm up and prevents the delicate tails from breaking.

- After 10 minutes, carefully transfer the cookies to a cooling rack to cool completely.
- For decoration, we dusted the tips of the tails with edible glitter to make them sparkle beautifully.
And that’s it – your sparkling party snacks for Mermaid Party 2.0 are ready: our 3D Mermaid Cookies!

Whether you’re planning a mermaid party soon or want to surprise your little mermaid fan with a sweet treat – these cookies are sure to be a hit.
My kids and I wish you and your little ones lots of fun baking!
Yours, Lia
