Preparation

  • Roughly chop the chocolate with a knife (or use chocolate drops)
  • Sift spelled flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl
  • Melt butter in the microwave or in a water bath
  • Preheat oven to 170°C top/bottom heat
  • Mix melted butter and sugar with a hand mixer until the sugar has dissolved (mix for about 2-3 minutes)
  • Add egg and beat until the dough becomes lighter
  • Briefly stir the flour, baking powder and salt mixture into the dough.
  • Use the spatula to fold the chopped chocolate evenly into the cookie dough
  • Divide the batter equally between three bowls. For the chocolate dino cookies, mix one-third of the batter with the cocoa powder, the second portion with 3 drops of green food coloring, and the third with about 6 drops of green food coloring. This will create brown, green, and dark green dino cookies. If the green tones of the cookies aren't intense enough for you, you can increase the number of drops if desired.
  • Then, using two teaspoons, place large blobs (approx. 3 cm in diameter) on the baking tray, leaving about 3 cm between them. (Little tip: no more than 12 dino cookies per tray, as they will spread during baking and otherwise stick together)
  • Bake the cookies for about 15 minutes at 170°C. Since ovens vary in baking time, you should check the oven after 12 minutes: if the cookies are lightly browned around the edges, they're done and can be removed from the oven. Even if they still look raw in the middle, they'll continue to bake outside the oven, making them nice and chewy.
  • Let the cookies cool down well on the cooling rack and snack.

Little tip: If you don't eat them right away, you can store them in a tin and separate the individual cookie layers with baking paper.
